Jamie Carragher has fired back and rejected claims he has an anti-Chelsea agenda when discussing the Blues after a TV presenter called out the Sky Sports pundit.

Olivia Buzaglo, who has presented coverage for the likes of DAZN, claimed she had a “bone to pick” with the Sky Sports pundit when appearing on on talkSPORT this week. She also questioned how Carragher felt the Blues were no closer to winning the Premier League.

She later followed that up on social media and claimed the ex-Liverpool defender “seems to talk so negatively about Chelsea.” The west Londoners qualified for the Champions League last term after two years away and also claimed the Europa Conference League.

This summer, having added the likes of Liam Delap and Joao Pedro, they won the Club World Cup but Carragher has been outspoken regarding their signings, claiming they haven’t necessarily improved the quality of the squad.

He also suggested they could not win the top flight with their current goalkeeping options and also cited concerns over how they would manage their squad now they are back playing in Europe’s top competition.

He said: “I don’t speak negatively about Chelsea, I give my honest opinion which hasn’t changed in the last 12 months. My comments about players not signing for them is to do with the revolving door at the club, were they just swap players with the same ability, it’s the same this summer.

“I don’t think they are closer to the title because you can’t win the title with the goalkeeper you have or CB’s, plus you will play CL & won’t be able to rotate the team like you did last season in conference cup.”

Chelsea finished 15 points behind champions Liverpool last term and needed to see off Nottingham Forest on the final day to finish in the top five and qualify for the Champions League. Enzo Maresca was questioned during his debut season, but his methods ultimately delivered what the club wanted.

Off the back of their Club World Cup success, defender Levi Colwill has claimed they are now primed to challenge domestically and in Europe.

“I said at the start of this tournament that our plan is to win it and people looked at me as if I was crazy,” he said. “I’m going to say the exact same thing now going into the Premier League and Champions League. I think we’re ready.”
