Star IB students from Hong Kong’s ESF school group share tips for success

Fifteen students from Hong Kong’s largest international school group who achieved high scores in the International Baccalaureate (IB) programme have shared their aspirations and preparation insights, with 11 planning to study medicine in the city.

Another five students from the German Swiss International School on The Peak achieved top marks in the IB programme, on a par with Victoria Shanghai Academy, bringing the number of top scorers in the city to 37.

The English Schools Foundation (ESF), the city’s largest international school group, on Monday revealed its students’ IB results. Its Sha Tin College had the highest number of six top scorers among all schools offering the IB diploma programme in Hong Kong.

Out of 15 top performers, 10 students plan to study medicine in Hong Kong, two will pursue computer science programmes in the United States, and the rest are either aiming to study in the US or are undecided.

Most of the top students expressed excitement and relief after learning about their grades.

“Getting 45 is a goal I’ve dedicated my past 17 years to reach. I just feel really honoured after reaching it,” said Kristie Lo Ji-kiu, 18, one of the top scorers who wants to become a doctor.
