Joao Pedro leaning towards joining Chelsea over Newcastle

A player is leaning towards joining Chelsea over Newcastle in a potentially big Premier League move that could happen this window.

Chelsea beat Benfica in the first set of knockout rounds in the Club World Cup last night, but it was far from easy and also, very far from drama!

Sources: Chelsea keen on signing veteran goalkeeper this summer as a Mike Maignan alternative!

Enzo Maresca labelled it a joke that the game got suspended for two hours due to sever weather conditions and slammed the tournament location as a result, and he really does have a point here.

And then came a flurry of late goal with Benfica equalising deep into stoppage time through a penalty to send it into extra time. Chelsea then bagged a bunch of goals to go on and win the game before it got to penalties!

Chelsea making some moves

Finally, it looks like Chelsea are making some transfer moves in the summer transfer window and are getting some bits done.

Finally, the Jamie Gittens transfer saga is close to actually being over, with transfer expert Fabrizio Romano calling the here we go done deal on it.

Nothing has been announced yet of course, but it sounds like it soon will be.

According to The Daily Mail this weekend, Joao Pedro of Brighton, who is also wanted by Newcastle, is leaning towards a move to Chelsea if they can reach agreement on a fee.

Chelsea have had a proposal of around £58m rebuffed with Brighton wanting in excess of £60m.

I’m not sure Chelsea will go much higher than what they have offered here and if they do, it’s probably yet another over-payment. But let’s see what happens.
