Leicester City will begin their life back in the Championship with a home fixture at the King Power Stadium against Sheffield Wednesday on 10 August.

And the first-team players are set to reconvene in just three days’ time ahead of the new campaign, with the club without a manager for the time being.

Former Everton and Burnley boss Sean Dyche has been heavily linked to replace Ruud van Nistelrooy at the Foxes ahead of the 2025-26 season.

But there is also trouble brewing off the pitch.

Not only are the club looking to regroup for their immediate return to the Championship, they are also facing a potential points deduction after being charged for allegedly breaching the Football League’s financial rules.

The Foxes have been referred to an independent commission after being charged by the Premier League for an alleged breach of profit and sustainability rules (PSR) for the year 2023-24, when they were in the Championship.

The new charge follows a lengthy arbitration process over who holds jurisdiction over Leicester, with the club bouncing between the Championship and Premier League in recent seasons.
