Kharkiv’s mayor, Ihor Terekhov, posted updates on social media app Telegram last night as the attack unfolded.
In the early hours, he said the city was experiencing the most powerful attack of the war so far, describing at one point how “at least 40 explosions” had been heard within an hour and a half.
Preliminary information indicates 18 apartment buildings and 13 other homes have been damaged, he says, describing the attack as “open terror”.
As we’ve been reporting, the mayor says at least three people have been killed.
