Liverpool are reportedly lining up a £100m move that pretty much confirms Mo Salah will leave.

Every era has to come to an end. Unfortunately the Egyptian King’s reign is also approaching its final stretch at Anfield. Salah’s time at the club has been nothing but prosperous.

He has become an icon. A legend who will forever be synonymous with Liverpool and will forever be remembered for his time at the club.

In many years, they will still be signing Salah’s name on The Kop. They’ll be writing books and making documentaries about him for decades to come.

He is going to be someone who Liverpool fans will look back on and will feel very fortunate to have witnessed in his prime.

For how long he will remain at the club is moot.

Salah is a fantastic footballer, and he’s going through a rough patch right now. He’s also not getting any younger either. The smart thing for Liverpool would be to prepare for the next dynasty.

It’s very much what Richard Hughes is doing right now. The signing of Alexander Isak was the beginning of a transition away from relying on purely Salah’s goals and assists.

Hugo Ekitike’s brilliant start has also added to this.

Now Liverpool’s next move to bolster their attack pretty much confirms that Salah is destined to leave.

We wrote about a report in The Gambia that Liverpool are lining up a £100m move for Yankuba Minteh. The report claims Minteh is a target to replace Salah. He’s seen as the perfect candidate for the right-wing role.

And if this report is to be believed, it all but signals the end of Salah’s time. Liverpool are not going to wait around to sign Minteh in 2027.

He’s going to be available this summer and that is likely when the Reds will make a move for him.

They are also not going to sign a player for £100m just for him to sit on the bench. Minteh will be coming in to start games and unless Salah wants to sit on the bench, which he doesn’t seem too happy to do on the rare occasion even now, he’s going to want to move on.

It’s no coincidence that just as these reports broke out, there was also another report claiming that Saudi Arabia want Salah in the summer.

Put the two pieces of news together, and it all makes sense. Liverpool’s plan is very obvious. They’re working to replace Salah and the effort to sign Minteh confirms it.

Based on the information we have available to us, it feels like the end is near.
